This was a present for a friend’s 30th Birthday in January. The guitar was purchased over 2 years ago and when I moved, rather than get rid of it I decided I would make it into something much more awesome. My friend’s favorite musician is Jack Johnson so when I found this quote I knew it was perfect. This project took a very long time - thanks to my father’s ridiculous perfectionism - but it was totally worth it in the end to see my friends face when I handed him the guitar. He had seen what it was before and was amazed we were able to basically get rid of all the scratches and cracks. The paint is a satin black and a metallic grey and in the end the cost was a $5 guitar from a yard sale, new strings ($9 on sale) and about 2 cans of paint (approximately $6)

I wrote this song in one sitting on Jan 16th in about 20 minutes. An elderly family friend had just passed away after spending a couple years in a nursing home. With my 30th birthday fast approaching, and all the thoughts that come along with that, I was imagining that those “I can’t believe I’m old” thoughts ever really go away. So I put myself in the mind of an elderly gentlemen in a nursing home and it just hits him where he is and how much time has passed.
*totally obsessed with this song right now.
